A familiar engagement
My childhood friend, Austin granted me with the first of what I hope to be many career engagement sessions. I’ve always liked Austin’s traditional and thoughtful approach to his relationships with others. There are only a handful of friends I can think of that have been as dependable and steady since youth, and I hoped I could return the favor in this chapter of his life.
The use of Austin’s parents’ home was special for several reasons. One of these being this was the house Austin and his brother, Landis grew up in. To share a live proposal with Austin and Sarah’s families in a place that dates to childhood made the experience nostalgic and surreal.
From my perspective, Sarah, Austin’s fiancee was elated to see the faces of family and friends on the rear deck of the family home. This was followed by Austin’s warm and collected proposal in the center of a room full of people who love them.
I’d only met Sarah once; this was probably 7 or 8 years ago in shopping mall, but among the proposal decorations were polaroid artifacts of the couples’ growth throughout the years. The pictures portrayed what it meant to be young lovers. It was essential for me to continue this visual documentary of what had become a mature partnership.
This session was one of the most memorable and I could not have produced these images without Amyiah, a very dear friend to Austin. Her meticulous planning of the event and styling of decor made the capture of this milestone seamless and beautiful.
Thank you all,
Ronald
